• We held an Explorers Forum held last month to capture views on what was working well and what our Explorers would like to do in Ebor District. From this we want more mentors to guide Explorers on awards, and are looking into the feasibility of planning an international trip for 2026.  If you would like to know more about mentoring let Iain McIntrye know.  Come along to our meeting about a potential trip to the Denmark Jamboree.
  • We held Forums for Leaders from each Section to build connections, and to share insights and suggestions. We also had a social evening in York for volunteers playing games and getting time to relax together.  We also had a meal out for Scout and Guide volunteers and supporters on St Georges Day.
  • Please actively promote our Events to your young people and sign up.  Our busy calendar needs new people to join our Active Support Team.  Let Charlotte McCarthy or John Ives know if you can join our pool of volunteers to help occasionally.
  • Please consider supporting York Pride 1 June. Join the festivities and/or help at our recruitment stand. There are Tips for getting involved.
  • First Response is going to be required for all front-line roles. Please plan ahead to book on a course if you need this.
  • Our Annual District Meeting and social evening has been booked with beer and burgers for our Scouting friends to get together on 13 September at York RI.
  • Thanks to Ben Hunter for his injection of communications skills over the past year and leading our District Support Team.  As Ben has now secured a new job down South we need more people to help on marketing, communications and administrative support. We also need to identify someone to coordinate our support for adventurous activity permits.  All these roles can be managed on an ad hoc basis around other commitments.  Individually not onerous, but collectively could make a big impact.  Let Nigel White know if interested in any of these opportunities.
